I am given to understand that in early 1979 a Centenary Cricket Match will be played between teams representing respectively Royal College and S. Thomas' College.

May I therefore send a message of congratulations to those boys fortunate enough to be selected in this historic game.

By a coincidence the dates of the Sri Lankan match are almost identical with those of the great Centenary Test between England and Australia in 1977.

If your game remotely approaches the latter in interest, excitement and skill everyone will be well rewarded.

With fond memories of my own brief appearances on your cricket grounds I wish you well and a happy and enjoyable game.
